PHOENIX TECHNOLOGIES ACCELERATES DEVELOPMENT OF INTELLIGENT SYSTEMS
WITH THE LAUNCH OF PHOENIX SECURECORE TECHNOLOGY™ 2.2

ELTAN , THE AUTHORIZED PHOENIX DISTRIBUTOR, WILL DEMONSTRATE
THE LATEST UEFI FIRMWARE SOLUTIONS AT EMBEDDED WORLD 2012

MILPITAS, Calif. – February 23, 2012 – Phoenix Technologies Ltd., the global leader in UEFI firmware technologies and products, today announced support for intelligent system firmware development for embedded applications with the launch of its flagship product, Phoenix SecureCore Technology™ (SCT) 2.2, at Embedded World 2012.  The second generation of Phoenix’s UEFI firmware offers over sixty new features that significantly improve system security, reliability and connectivity required by embedded developers.  Live demonstrations of Phoenix SCT 2.2 will be on display at the Eltan  booth at Embedded World 2012, February 28 - March 1, 2012.

With the rapid growth of intelligent technologies and the Internet of Things (IOT), embedded applications have diversified from industry and factory automation to the healthcare, energy, automotive, gaming and retail industries and beyond.  The original role of BIOS was to control system power-on, but today’s UEFI firmware is equipped with unique embedded features, such as multiple simultaneous SIOs, ATX power supply emulating AT power supply, boot from SDIO, and headless support based on different vertical applications and operating environments.

“SCT 2.2 is the second generation of our UEFI firmware product that addresses the needs of the embedded market with Phoenix’s leading technology in system security and connectivity.  Tailored to the needs of embedded applications, SCT 2.2 is the ideal solution for intelligent system developers seeking security, performance and interoperability with cloud computing.  Several leading embedded manufacturers deployed Phoenix SCT in 2011 and were impressed with its performance and reliability.  In 2012, Phoenix will continue the development of innovative embedded features on UEFI firmware for intelligent systems,” said Kelly Wu, VP of Worldwide Embedded Sales and Marketing at Phoenix Technologies.

Phoenix SCT 2.2 is compliant with Intel® vPro™ technology and the latest industry specifications, including UEFI 2.3.1, TCG 1.2/2.0, ACPI 4.0/5.0, USB 3.0, SMBIOS 2.7, IPMI 2.0 and NIST-SP800-147.  The advanced functionality enabled by the latest specifications fused with the innovative features created by Phoenix brings tremendous benefits to embedded manufacturers developing intelligent systems.
